Unscrambling the Rubik’s Cube ~ The Construction of the Cube is the Key to Completion
This conference addresses the very real need for organization in the lives of women today. We explore how important it is to view time and possessions with an eternal perspective and to center our lives on the cross. There is a heavy emphasis on practical skills for organizing our plans, our people, and our property. Oh – and the Rubik’s Cube really does get solved!
Session One: The Who, When, Where, Why of Organization
We live at a time in history when we have an unprecedented number of “helps” for daily living. From washing machines to smart phones, the tools designed for efficiency often increase, rather than reduce, demands on our time. Add to that the globalization of the marketplace which gives us the ability to shop and work from home 24/7, and we begin to expect more of ourselves and acquire more possessions. Here enters the struggle to maintain it all: the tools, our time, and the trappings of life today. This session seeks to help us recognize both our potential and our limits.
Session Two: What we Organize
Most “programs” to help us declutter our homes and schedules fall short because they focus on the clutter of our counters and calendars without addressing the clutter, a.k.a. idolatry, we have in our hearts. During this session we strive to dispel the old the adage “we all have the same 24 hours.” Since each woman has unique desires, gifts, responsibilities, and resources, the answer to “organization” in the home and on the calendar must look different for each woman. Let’s get to the bottom of the piles by addressing the heart attitudes that help them grow.
Session Three: How Can This Happen?
The final session is the part for which everyone longs when they approach organization and de-cluttering. Our time during this session is spent on practical skills to establish order in your home and schedule to allow room (& time) for grace to grow. While universal principles apply, there is no such thing as a one-size-fits-all solution, which is why most decluttering plans fail over the long-haul. This session offers lots of easily-modifiable ideas to develop a customized plan which works for the individual’s context: taking into account the unique factors of life including current commitments, time, home, household size, people, resources, gifts, desires, and passions.
